staycation 2012

this year, we decided to use a week of vacation and do a "staycation".  we thought we would enjoy it most if we could just use the time to do some of our favorite fall activities and not have to deal with naps, nursing, among other things at an out of town location.  we are planning a larger scale getaway for 2013 and i think all three of us will be to a point where we can really enjoy it.  we dined out everyday, and i really loved the break from cooking.  here we are enjoying a trip to our neighborhood donut stop, LaMar's.  we love LaMar's!

we visited The Creation Station so that I could paint a "special day" plate for her to use for her birthday and many other special and momentous occasions.  we put her hands and feet on the back  and she giggled at the tickly feeling of the wet paint brush.

a day of shopping and out to eat ...

she finally got to see a choo-choo.  we here them in the distance at home and at grandma & grandpa smith's but she's never seen once up close and personal.  didn't get a pic of the train, just her enjoying it ...

this picture is from 2002.  we were 16 years old.  i remember saying that i wanted to take this picture again when we had kids ...

on friday, we got out of town for a bit to visit the apple orchards in nebraska city.
it was just nice to leave town, enjoy the colorful drive, and indulge in carmel apples, spicy apply donuts, cider slushies, etc etc!  and she got some good naps in on the way and the way back.

loves exploring in the front seat
